Prayers for California

Prayers for California 2025.jpg

IAMWMW Sisters,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27 ESV

International President Elder Vernita Josey and the IAMWMW Sisterhood pray that God will grant His provision, protection, and peace to our Western Region Sisters in the Southern California area and the entire California Association MWMW Sisterhood.

We have seen the devastation caused by wildfires, hurricanes, flooding, snowstorms, and other natural disasters, yet we have built a resilient faith. California is experiencing a crisis. The wildfires have compromised the air quality. Nearly 10,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed, with more than 180,000 people displaced. Firefighters are overwhelmed but continue to battle the blazes to get them under control.

We trust God in the face of adverse situations and will continue to pray. We are here for you in your time of need and are concerned about you and your well-being. California Association President Sis. Pamela Williams, Dean Sis. Patricia Young and the CAMWMW Leadership Team have provided resource information.

Resources:

LA 211 has been paired with Airbnb, and anyone who has been evacuated because of the Palisades fire can stay at an Airbnb for one week at no charge. Just dial 2-1-1 or visit www.211LA.org

There are four public shelters across LA County open, according to the CA Office of Emergency Services:

- Pasadena Civic Auditorium: 300 East Green St., Pasadena

- Westwood Recreation Center:  1350 SD. Sepulveda Blvd. Los Angeles

- El Camino Real Charter High School:  5440 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills

- Ritchie Valens Recreation Center:  10735 Laurel Canyon Blvd,  Pacoima

FEMA's official social media said residents could text "SHELTER" and their zip code to 43362 for the nearest open shelters. Residents were also directed to contact local emergency services and officials for the latest shelter and evacuation information.

May God's peace be with you.

In Sisterly Love,

Elder Vernita Josey, International President
